Week 6: This is it!

The last week of practicum was over before I actually realised it and just like my first practicum, I am sad it is all over. During these six weeks, I feel I have learned so much about teaching, myself, lesson content etcetera. Right now, I feel I am ready to be in front of the classroom. Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I tried really hard to finish the whole Harry Potter-series before I relocated to Karratha for my second practicum. Unfortunately, I did not manage to finish the last book so that one has to wait until I come back. The pre-final Harry Potter book marked my memory as one of explanation. To Teach, or Not To Teach Grammar?

For a long time, grammar was not taught in secondary schools in Australia. It was believed that grammar instruction was unnecessary as students would acquire the grammar rules automatically. According to the Australian Curriculum, teachers now have to teach several rules during secondary school. However, these teachers often never had a grammar lesson in their lives.
